Urinary incontinence treatment

Urinary Incontinence Treatment in Peterborough

Most people live with bladder leaks for years before they ask anyone about them. Pads become routine, long car journeys get planned around toilets, and exercise classes quietly stop. It is extremely common and it is not something you have to accept as permanent.

There are two patterns we see most: stress incontinence, where a cough, sneeze, laugh or lift causes a leak, and urgency, where the need arrives suddenly and strongly. Both are closely tied to how well the pelvic floor supports and controls the bladder, and both respond to strengthening that support.

How we assess your bladder symptoms

The consultation starts with your history: when it started, what triggers it, how often, whether anything has changed recently, and what you have already tried. That conversation decides whether we treat you or refer you on.

Blood in the urine, pain, recurrent infections, a noticeable prolapse or a sudden change all need medical investigation before any treatment. We will tell you plainly if that applies to you rather than selling you a course.

The treatment itself

Sessions are 28 minutes, fully clothed, seated. The device contracts the pelvic floor group repeatedly to rebuild the strength and coordination the bladder relies on. There is no downtime, so people book before work or on a lunch break.

Progress is tracked with you — pad use, night-time trips, and the situations that used to trigger a leak. If there is no measurable change, we say so instead of extending the course indefinitely.

Who this suits

  • Leaks when coughing, sneezing, laughing or exercising
  • Sudden urgency, sometimes without reaching the toilet in time
  • Getting up more than once a night to pass urine
  • Relying on pads or dark clothing day to day
  • Symptoms that began after childbirth or around menopause

The technology behind it

Delivered with the BTL Emsella chair, the HIFEM device used in published incontinence studies.

Absolutely wonderful experience at Joréa Clinic. The atmosphere is calm and premium, and the Emsella treatment gave me results I genuinely didn't think were possible without surgery. The team explained every step with real care.

I booked an Emface course and the difference after four sessions is remarkable — my skin feels lifted and I look refreshed rather than 'done'. Discreet, professional and honest advice throughout. Highly recommend.

The consultation was thorough and never pushy. Mark the time to understand what I actually wanted and tailored a plan around it. The clinic itself is beautiful — you feel looked after from the moment you walk in.

FAQs

Urinary incontinence treatment — your questions

For many people with stress or urge symptoms, yes — strengthening the pelvic floor is the first-line approach, and HIFEM sessions do that without surgery, needles or medication. Surgery remains the right route for some cases, which is exactly what the consultation establishes.
